Frank Lampard’s thoughts
Frank Lampard is expecting a difficult afternoon for his Derby County side when ‘work in progress’ Aston Villa pitch up at Pride Park on Saturday.
Lampard and the Rams welcome Villa having dismantled both Albion and Blues in recent weeks; they currently sit comfortably in the play-off spots, a good seven points and nine places above the claret and blues.
That being said, Chelsea legend Lampard has predicted that, once new manager Dean Smith has the desired effect on his inherited Villa side, they will be fighting towards the top end of the table come the end of the campaign.
Lampard, who along with assistant Jody Morris faces former teammates John Terry on the touch-line on Saturday, has already led his side to victory over Smith this term, when they beat Brentford – he insists, though, that that has no bearing on the outcome this weekend.
