Grimsby Town and MK Dons begin the road to Wembley when they meet in the FA Cup First Round at Blundell Park
Grimsby Town and MK Dons embark on the road to Wembley this afternoon when they meet in the FA Cup.
It comes after a 1-1 draw between the sides earlier in the League Two season, but this time it’s the Mariners who boast home advantage.
Elliott Whitehouse is the only certain injury absentee for Town, who are waiting on an update from defender Alex Whitmore (ribs).
Harry Davis and Harry Cardwell have returned to training at Cheapisde, but it’s unclear whether or not they will force their way into matchday contention.
In other news, long-serving stopper James McKeown has been awarded League Two Player of the Month for October, while MK Dons boss Paul Tisdale won the managerial prize.

MK Dons are taking control
MK Dons are camped in the Town half and have been for the last five minutes of so. Town have Thomas up on halfway but he’s rather isolated.
MK Dons should be ahead as the resulting corner is half-cleared to Healy 10 yards out but he can only volley over.
Hessenthaler gives the ball away in the middle of the park and MK Dons break at pace and Town are outnumbered. Healy broke to the edge of the box before squaring the ball to Aneke who gets his shot away but McKeown saves brilliantly.
MK Dons free-kick
Famewo brings Aneke down as he had knocked the ball past him down the MK Dons right. Free-kick on the right 35-40 yards out.
Crossed into the box and Clifton heads it away.
Cross comes back in but it sails into the Pontoon.
Aneke nearly forces his way through the Town defence but Davis gets his body across and times his tackle perfectly to steer the ball to Collins for him to clear. Great defending.
MK Dons improving
MK Dons are settling down now and appear to be growing into the game as they pass it around and keep possession. They work their way up the field before a shot from range sails comfortably wide.
Pringle delivers the ball in and Famewo meets it with his head but he can only head it up into the air. The keeper comes off his line to punch before Hessenthaler rifles it over on the volley from just inside the area.
Has looked sharp and the liveliest of the Town players so far. He appears to be increasing in confidence as his fitness and match sharpness improves.
Town have worked it to the edge of the MK Dons box a couple of time but are yet to really threaten.
Pringle delivers a cross in from the left but the keeper claims it.
The back four
RB is Hendrie, CB is Davis and Collins with Famewo is LB.
Ready to go…
The minute’s silence was impeccably observed.
Town are set to attack the Osmond end of the ground.
Hessenthaler is set to get the game underway… off we go!
We are about to observe a minute’s silence. Both managers are set to lay a wreath in the centre circle on behalf of both clubs.
Reminder of the team news:
Is not in the squad today after a number of people online were calling for him to start but we believe he is cup-tied due to his loan spell at Boston United.
