It’s only two weeks until Josh Warrington defends his world title against Carl Frampton in what promises to be one of the biggest British fights of the year.
And while the Leeds-born fighter steps up his preparations for the Manchester bout on December 22, he’s also found time to offer up a few Premier League predictions for the BBC this weekend.
The huge Leeds United fan has gone up against Mark Lawrenson in calling the score for every one of this weekend’s matches, with one result particularly eye-catching.
Like any self-respecting Whites fan, Warrington has a healthy dislike for Manchester United and he’s predicting a bad weekend for Jose Mourinho’s side.
Rock-bottom Fulham make the trip up north to Old Trafford this weekend, but Josh thinks the form book will be thrown out of the window and Claudio Ranieri will mastermind a 7-0 win for the Cottagers.
Lawro, meanwhile, is forecasting a 2-0 win for the side from the wrong side of the Pennines.
The two sides lock horns at 3pm on Saturday, so we’ll see who’s prediction is closer.
Warrington also discussed Leeds’ form under Marcelo Bielsa this season on the BBC website.
“He has brought a good buzz back to Elland Road,” said Warrington, who memorably won the IBF world featherweight this summer when he beat Lee Selby at Elland Road. “We have been entertaining to watch and it is a good place to be at the moment.
“Whatever has happened in games, even if we are behind in stoppage time at the end of the game, there is still a belief that we can win.
“The one thing with Leeds fans is that they always want to see the team just have a go and it seems he has changed the mentality of all the players, and he is bringing the best out of them.
“Will we go up? Well, I always said that when I won a world title, Leeds would get promoted the same season. We are flying high at the moment, and I have already won the world title so let’s hope this is our year.”
