Paul Merson on why Arsenal 'will have too much' for Huddersfield Town

Paul Merson has been impressed with Huddersfield Town in their last two matches but says he can’t see anything but an Arsenal win this weekend.

The Sky Sports pundit feels it is just too big a task for David Wagner’s side at the Emirates Stadium, especially with Unai Emery’s Gunners looking to extend their unbeaten run to 21 matches.

Merson, a former Arsenal and England striker, of course, is predicting a 3-0 defeat for Town, which can be backed at odds of 7/1 with Sky Bet.

In his regular column for the satellite broadcaster, Merson questions: “Will Mesut Ozil return for Arsenal this weekend?

“I don’t see Unai Emery bringing him back in now as Arsenal will try to play in the same vein as they did against Tottenham and Manchester United.”

Then he says of Town’s prospects: “Huddersfield were bang unlucky against Bournemouth and I also thought they were unlucky against Brighton with Steve Mounie’s sending off.

“However, I don’t see anything but an Arsenal win.

“They will have too much for David Wagner’s side at the Emirates.”

Merson believes the early kick-off at the Vitality Stadium will go the way of Liverpool, condemning Bournemouth to a 3-1 defeat (10/1 with Sky Bet).

He feels, however, that won’t be good enough for Jurgen Klopp’s men to close the gap on Manchester City at the top of the table, as he is predicting City will score a 2-1 win at Chelsea (15/2 with Sky Bet).

In the lower reaches, Merson reckons Newcastle and Wolves will draw 2-2 at St James’ Park and Burnley and Brighton will also draw, but this time 1-1 at Turf Moor.

Merson reckons the clash between Cardiff City and Southampton will go the way of Neil Warnock’s side 2-0, despite it being a first game in charge for new Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl.

In the other games, Merson predicts: Everton 2 Watford 1, Manchester United 2 Fulham 0, West Ham 2 Crystal Palace 0, Leicester 1 Tottenham 3.
