The M5 southbound is closed towards Exeter this morning after a crash between a car and a lorry.
Police say it happened at 5.48am this morning, which is believed to have left a man and a woman with ‘significant injuries.’
The motorway is closed between junction 28 and junction 29, with traffic queuing for miles.
There are delays of at least 40 minutes, with traffic queued back to junction 27.
Here are the diversion routes to avoid the M5 during the rush hour.
If you are heading towards Exeter, the main diversion takes you along the B3181 through Cullompton and Broadclyst.
That will take you through Cullompton, right the way through Broadclyst, before taking you to Exeter via Pinhoe.
This is a longer diversion route, although traffic may be lighter here.
Turn off just before the accident to the A373, and follow it towards Honiton.
From there, take the A30, and follow the dual carridegeway, before rejoining at Exeter, towards junction 29 and the Sowton area of Exeter.
